Research Appointments

Schedule a 30-minute session with a SCC librarian for help with your research-related assignment or project. Research appointments are conducted online via the Los Rios Zoom video conferencing platform using your computer or mobile device. During the session you can leave your camera off or on—it's your choice.

Librarians can help you:

  • Select and refine a research topic and strategy
  • Find books, articles, streaming videos, and academic resources to support your topic
  • Navigate library databases
  • Use tools for citing your sources (MLA, APA, etc).

Click on a white rectangle to sign up for an online appointment. You may make an appointment up to two weeks in advance.

For in-person research help from a librarian, please visit the Library’s Research Help Desk anytime during open hours.

Guidelines

Students are asked to limit their requests to no more than two appointments per week and one appointment per day. Any requests beyond these limits will be canceled. Students using this service are bound by SCC's Code of Conduct. The librarian may refer students to the Writing Center or other tutoring areas if that will more effectively meet the student's needs.

Note to instructors

The Research Appointment service should not be assigned for extra credit or other "points"; students will not be given proof that they used it.

If your entire class needs assistance, please arrange for course-integrated library instruction.
